It Is Not About How Much We Do But How Much We Believe

"Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt."(Romans4:4)

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness..."(2 Corinthians 12:9)

Glory be to God in the highest. Gods is awesome. Many a time as humans, we tend to try to get things done on our own. Since we are responsible for our actions, we try to get it all right. As Christians, we tend to "work": all to please God. While there is nothing wrong with "working", we might have gotten some things wrong.

When Jesus was a man, He visited a certain lady called Martha and Martha had a sister named Mary. Probably because Jesus is around and because of His fame, she was so busy trying to get things around done that she don't even listen to the words of Jesus. However, her sister Mary just sat at Jesus' feet listening to Jesus and when Jesus would address Martha, He said she was "distracted which much serving." (see Luke 10: 39-42)

In numerous ways we are like Martha. Many of us are so religiously clogged up that we barely have a relationship with our Redeemer. While what we do is not bad, it's better to do few important things that many useless things. What does God expects of us? The Book of John explains better:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever BELIEVETH in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)(My emphasis)

That's just it. We should spend our time building up our faith in God. We should spend time meditating His Words. We should spend time doing things that matters. After all, it's His grace that pull us through and help us achieve whatever we want, why then burden ourselves being "distracted with much servings"?

Amen
